LAUGHTER IS PRODUCED BY A MERRY HEART
“Laughter the best medicine!” is a feature of the Readers Digest publication for years.
Old Testament Scriptures speaks of laughter by implication.
Proverbs 15:13 A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
Prov. 15:15 All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.
Prov. 17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
Only a truly merry heart can burst out in laughter given the opportunity.
Laughter has the unique power to ignite, to quicken, to bring life
to any gloomy, lifeless, tedious, tiresome situations or gatherings.
This is true even in long, winding messages delivered by boring, dull so-called preachers.
The challenge then for those who preach even teach, be filled with joy, the joy of the LORD (Gal. 5:22; Phil. 4; 1 Thes. 5:16). Then you will have a merry heart that produces laughter that can have a contagious effect in the lives of people we minister with.
“Have a hearty laugh. It is good for your health and well-being”.
