A NATION DEDICATED TO IDOLS
By: Evangelist Emmanuel Salvador

The Philippines is known as the “only Christian nation” in Asia. This is principally because of the fact, that majority of the more than 90 million Filipinos, are Roman Catholics. This notion is misleading for there is no distinction made whatsoever as to what constitute a “Christian Nation”.

The truth of the matter is: the Philippines is a NATION OF IDOLATERS. First, because of the fact that Roman Catholicism, being the major religion, is an idolatrous religious system. Second, because our country is in fact not a Christian nation in the real sense of the word, Biblically speaking.

At the beginning of every New Year, the month of January ushers in the celebration and commemoration of numerous Roman Catholic Feasts that millions of our fanatic, spiritually deceived countrymen religiously follow from year to year. The first of these feasts is: the feast of the Black Nazarene of the Roman Catholic Church in Quiapo, City of Manila last January 9th. This was front page in the Philippine Daily Inquirer dated January 10th titled: Millions escort Black Nazarene by DJ Yap, Marlon Ramos and Jaymee T. Gamil. Another article titled: Women devotees join mad frenzy for flowers by Jocelyn R. Uy. It was estimated that the crowd who attended and participated was about 1.5 million.

The second was January 16th. PDI’s front page picture was that of the Santo Nino. This is the “Sinulog Festival” held every 3rd Sunday of January in Cebu. The PDI front page article titled: Sinulog: Why Pinoys are dancing, singing devotees of the Child Jesus by Jhunnex Napallacan and Chris Evert Lato.

The January 17th edition of PDI, had for its front page SEA OF FAITH, a picture of a mammoth crowd, inspite of a heavy downpour of rain, devotees of the Sto. Nino joining the procession along Jones Avenue in Cebu City during Sunday’s 445th celebration of the “Sinulog Festival” in honor of the city’s patron.

Our nation has in truth and in fact been dedicated by the Roman Catholic Church here in the Philippines to Mary and the Sto. Nino, the mother and child tandem of idolatry. All over our nation, statues of the Virgin Mary have been erected, prominent of which is the one in EDSA and Ortigas Avenue known as the EDSA Shrine and just recently, the statue erected in C-5.

And so, the Filipino people has been deceived by the Deceiver, Satan himself through this damnable and false religious system, which is Roman Catholicism.
Revelation 12:9 (King James Version)
9And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

The Bible, God’s Precious Pure Word is very clear as to what idolatry is. It is a sin so grievous in the eyes of the God of Holy Scriptures, that He considers it an “abomination”. In the Pilipino language it is “Karumaldumal”!

Exodus 20: 3Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
5Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

It is an “abominable sin” that a jealous, just, holy and righteous God extremely hates. The truth is that a person, more so, a whole nation which is guilty of the sin of idolatry hates God. This is the clear and straightforward teaching of the Bible. And unless and until such an idolatrous person, and for that matter a nation, truly repents and turn away from this sin, God’s judgment will surely come to pass.

Therefore, every authentic, genuine, true born again Christian, saved by grace and redeemed by the BLOOD of the Lamb of God, the LORD Jesus Christ (John 3:1-7; Eph. 2:8-10; Hebrews 9:11-14; 22), must in all honesty and truthfulness confront and expose the unbiblical teachings of this idolatrous religious system that has shackled tens of millions of our people.

If we fail to do this, either by the sin of omission which is neglect or because of the “fear of man”, then the LORD God will require the blood (Ezekiel 3:16-21; 33:7-9) of these our countrymen in the hands of God’s people.

Let us ask the LORD our God to fill our hearts with love and compassion for our countrymen, shackled by the sin of idolatry. And with holy boldness confront them, compelled and constrained (2 Corinthians 5:14 KJBible) by the love of Christ sharing the pure Gospel of Salvation which is through faith in the LORD Jesus Christ alone!
